What do you snack on between your work to give you a quick energy boost and satisfy your cravings? No doubt, you often think about grabbing the packet of cookies lying in your cupboard or munch on a packet of chips or worse, savor a large bar of chocolate, other than taking healthy foods. If you have the desire to lose weight or just have a healthy lifestyle, here is a list of healthy snack foods you can eat whenever you feel like without feeling guilty.
1. Carrots
Carrots are high in vitamin A which is advantageous for your eye sight. You can eat carrots raw, or you can press them through a juicer and enjoy the delicious and sweet tasting carrot juice. High in carbohydrates, these give you a quick energy boost too. However, for the same reason of high carbohydrate content, you should eat them in moderate amounts otherwise the excess carbohydrates will cause weight gain.
2. Cucumbers
No fruit or vegetable can be as sophisticated as a cucumber and yet be so low in calories and carbs. The cool taste of cucumbers makes it one of my favorite snacks. The best thing is, cucumbers are extremely low in calories and carbohydrates and so, even if you take a full bowl, there is nothing to feel guilty about. There are many cucumber salad recipes which enhance the flavor of this vegetable and satisfy your cravings. But the best way is to eat them raw without any dressing or dip.
3. Cheese roll-ups
Cheese is no doubt high in milk fat, but it is extremely low in carbohydrates. One serving of cheese will make you full and will give you a quick energy boost. The salty taste of cheese also satisfies your cravings. To make a cheese roll-up, add some cheese in a non-stick pan and when it turns brown from the lower side, take a spatula and roll up the cheese. This is a truly delicious snack which comes out crunchy from the outside and gooey from the inside. Dip it in marinara sauce and enjoy. It is certainly a worth mention in the list of healthy snack foods!
4. Green tea
You must already know about the trendiest tea out there. Green tea has replaced all other caffeine teas and brews. It certainly combats your cravings and makes you feel full. Not just that, but green tea is an excellent metabolism booster. Drink this tea after each meal to kick-start your metabolism. If you don’t like the bland taste of green tea, add a dash of lemon, one cardamom and a few mint leaves to enhance the flavor. You will surely become addicted to it.
5. Nuts
Are you craving something salty to eat? Instead of grabbing that packet of chips from the shelf, it is better eating salted nuts, which will satisfy your cravings and still be healthy for you. These are high in protein and fat which make them an excellent energy booster. These are perfect if you feel fatigue and unable to focus. However, nuts are high in carbohydrates and so you should eat only in moderate amounts. You should eat no more than 20-30 nuts at one time. From the list of healthy snack foods, this is my favorite!
There are many other ideas, but this list of healthy snack foods is the most convenient for people as they can get them in every season. No need to feel guilty if you satisfy yourself with these healthy snacks!
