But there is a new form that not only requires skill, it requires science, and likely access to equipment most of us do not have in our homes, or possibly even in our city.

10. Nano Rose

Source

This rose was created by a Taiwanese person named Pai Chun Wei at the National Taiwan University. It was made using Indium, which I didn’t even know was a thing. What’s next? Germanium? Oh, wait…

Most people have a hard time making fancy roses out of tomato skins, but this rose is mere hundreds of nanometers across; for perspective, a human hair is between 50,000 to 100,000 nanometers across. I wouldn’t suggest giving these to your significant other in place of real flowers any time soon (unless you are dating a nerd).

9. Nano Explosions

Source

These “explosions” are actually “color-enhanced scanning electron micrographs of an overflowed electro-deposited magnetic nanowire array”. I am not sure what all of that means, but I think it has something to do with zapping tiny wires, taking a picture with an electron microscope and then photoshopping it so that it looks like an army of tiny volcanoes or a nuclear Armageddon on a microscopic scale. This one was created by Fanny Beron from Montreal, and was a first place winner at the 2007 Science As Art competition in Boston.

8. Nano Dice

Source

Also a first place winner at the 2007 Science As Art competition, these dice were “self-assembled” out of nickel, and measure a whopping 200 microns across, making them roughly twice the width of a tick hair. Timothy Leong of Johns Hopkins University made them, I am assuming to provide mice with tiny novelty trinkets of their own, or for protozoans to hang from their rearview mirrors. I would have been impressed enough with the tiny cubes, but getting the dots on them blew me away. I can’t even glue the hood on a model car without getting glue on the axels.

7. Nano Reindeer

Source

I couldn’t find anything in plain English that described how this was made, so I am just going to say, “holy crap, they made a reindeer 5 thousandths of a millimeter across!” Imagine the little houses they would land on, bringing toys to the children of dust mites and really big bacteria. No kidding these ones can fly; they’re smaller than a snowflake, so a light breeze could take them miles. All they would need is a minuscule Santa to…oh, here we go.

6. Nano Santa

Source

So Nano-Santa is a tad larger than the reindeer but, really, at that scale I don’t think it matters. This was created by Adam Steele for the SAA competition, and won him second place. The caption at the bottom of the picture implies that it was created using carbon nanotubes and Teflon. Unfortunately, Nano-Santa appears to have fallen out of his sleigh and landed on some rocks, so let’s hope there is a microscopic Hanukkah Harry to bail him out.

5. Nano Smileys

Source

The man who made these little fellas called them “buddies”, and they are about the cutest thing there is on a molecular level. These are probably what puppies and little girls are made of. Except maybe the little guy in the upper left who appears to be screaming. Probably because the two next to him are missing parts of their heads. And two of them are missing their jaws, like the guy in the next room in Road Trip. On second thought, I don’t think a smiling nanoface could get much more disturbing than these…

4. Evil Nano Pac-Man

Source

AHHHH! Holy crap! I stand corrected.

Good lord! It’s like someone mixed Pac-Man, Venom and Rorschach and came up with a hybrid more terrifying than the sum of its parts. Elisabetta Comini from the University of Brescia in Italy crafted this monstrosity out of copper oxide, and is only 3.5 microns across. She won the first prize at the 2010 SAA competition in San Francisco, probably after threatening to unleash her terrifying horde on the world’s nightmares if she did not.

3. Nano Garden

Source

Thankfully, this incredible nano-garden exists to soothe away the terror brought on by the other images. It looks like they are growing some tiny Titam Arum, micro succulents, and hmm…looks like some lamp shades over in the lower left? Whatever, it’s surprisingly pretty for being so small, and interestingly well-ordered. I could go into some jokes about viruses harvesting this for winter but, by now, I’m sure you’re tired of the “small” jokes and…oops, looks like I did it anyway.

2. Coat of Arms in Carbon Nanotube

Source

Carbon nanotubes are the miracle material of the future; they will be used in the organic LEDS that make up our TVs and monitors, they will be used to build impossible structures that are as strong as diamonds, and make almost 100%-efficient solar cells. They will also be used to make impossibly tiny pictures of the Yin-Yang symbol or your coat of arms. You know, whichever. These images were made using quantum dots arranged on a surface of CNTs using optical tweezers. I know that sounds like I lifted lines from a Phillip K. Dick novel, but those are all real things.

1. Nano Landmarks

Source

Now, while the others are pretty impressive already, these ones ranked higher because no one needed to pull any clever color manipulation to make them stand out. They are immediately and easily identifiable landmarks rendered in 3-D at a scale only visible with an electron microscope. It’s easy to imagine bacterial Mongols being held at bay, or a group of amoeba druids praying to the moon. Or maybe that’s just me.

There will be a number of attractions, including rides for children of all ages and the world’s fastest rollercoaster, travelling at speeds exceeding 124 mph.
Thankfully, the many contributing developers have released what we’ve all been waiting for.

So, you’re jailbroken; that’s great and all, but what’s next? Well, fire up Cydia, and we’ll take you on a little journey through some of the best tweaks available for your recently unshackled device. We’re going to run through our favs, so watch closely, and you’ll have a few very useful tweaks to get you started!

Note, at time of writing, the jailbreak has been out for mere hours, so Cydia may be susceptible to crashes, server overloads, or indeed not launch properly at all. Don’t fret, this is a normal occurrence as hundreds of thousands – if not millions – of likeminded gadgeteers seek the same benefits as yourselves. You’ll find that, once the dust settles, Saurik and Co. will have everything running smoothly once again.

3G Unrestrictor for iOS 5

Rather than attempting to pack loads of unnecessary features in, this tweak does one thing – and does it very well indeed. You may have tried to download, say a music video or movie from iTunes while on the go, only to realize the download would not start. This is because Apple limits the number of MB’s downloadable through a cellular connection to just twenty, leaving those on unlimited packages and bereft of an available Wi-Fi Hotspot just a tad bit miffed.

Enter 3G Unrestrictor. Recently updated for iOS 5, it tricks your device into thinking it’s on Wi-Fi whenever you activate it, meaning no more unnecessary limitations. It’s particularly popular amongst FaceTime users, a feature which can only be used over Wi-Fi; so says Apple.

It’s one of those tweaks which should certainly feature in your staple diet of Cydia imports, and is still just 99 cents as an introductory offer before it rises to the usual price of $3.99. At either price, it’s well worth it, and you can check out our full feature including download information here.

BiteSMS 6.0

BiteSMS is Messaging the way it always should have been, and we’d go as far as to say it’s pretty much got it all. From the ability to create a message from any app with QuickCompose to the feature allowing messages to be pre-written and sent at specified dates and times, it is as close to perfection as you will get on iOS.

Despite packing in so many features, it still manages to keep that quintessentially Apple simplicity, and somehow doesn’t feel too overloaded. It’s only recently been updated for iOS 5 compatibility, but fits in once again like a glove.

It’s fully integrated with NotificationCenter, so you’ll never miss a trick, but this five-star app will set you back ten bucks.

You can read our full, extensive coverage of BiteSMS here.

FastTweet+

Since iOS 5 came packaged with that inbuilt Twitter API, FastTweet is a no frills way to tweet quickly and efficiently. Similarly to 3G Unrestrictor, this tweak has one sole purpose, and does it to absolute perfection.

Of course, you can’t check your direct messages or currently trending fad of the hour, but that’s not its purpose, and there are a bunch of other apps available with varying interfaces to cater to those needs. You tweet, you close, and you tweet again. Nice and simple – just how we like it.

Sound good to you? Well what are you waiting for; check out the full post here!

Zephyr

This great tweak, courtesy of chpwn, allows you to slide between apps in a similar way multitasking gestures does on the iPad. It helps make an already smooth OS even smoother, and allows the multitasking bar to be opened with a swipe, as opposed to double-tapping the home button which we all – at some stage – get wrong and end up closing our currently-open app.

Based on a similar function of the Nokia N9, it’s a wonderful tweak, but then again, we’d expect nothing less from chpwn – one of the greatest to have ever done it.

Check out the full post here for more info and download.

ProTube

Continuing with the as it should have been motif of BiteSMS, this tweak demonstrates some of the features we’d love to see in the native YouTube iOS app.

YouTubing without ads seems like a distant memory, with most videos now featuring mandatory advertisements of up to 30 seconds. ProTube blocks them out, meaning you’ll probably not want to access the main site again for fear of the spam.

We’d have to pitch the clinching feature as MP3-saving capacity – meaning any audio can be ripped and saved for listening at any time, as depicted above. Then again, with AirPlay added to the mix, we’ll let you decide on your favorite. Want more? Go here!

Hands-Free Control for Siri

This Siri-centric marvel allows Apple’s new voice-recognition software to be launched, well.. by voice.

Although we wouldn’t necessarily want Siri to get to work on every word we speak within her earshot, the option would have been nice, but since Apple hasn’t catered to this just yet, developer Aman Gupta (@tmm1) has brought this feature to those jailbroken.

Have a look at our full post on this particular tweak, located here.

Overflow

Although we appreciate our iPhone 4S for its hardware capabilities and smooth operating system, we are also – to varying degrees – wooed by the aesthetics. After all, it’s a beautiful device, and making things look a little bit prettier here and there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Simply put, Overflow makes dock icons look like cover flow, and although there have been ways to achieve the look before, manually editing icons in WinterBoard is neither enjoyable, nor practical, since once the next very important app comes along, you’re stuck with an icon fixed at a 35 degree angle.

Overflow is simple, and unlike the manual method, easy to reverse. If you’re impressed by the screens, have a look at the full post, which you can find here.

SuperSwitcher

This tweak allows you to add nine of your favorite apps to the somewhat wasteful area above the active multitasking bar, which is very useful indeed – if you only have nine commonly-used apps.

It works perfectly, but we can’t help but feel there’s still some wasted space in which the dev could have filled to fit more apps. But that is something we can hope for with future updates, and those gripes shouldn’t take away anything from what is an essential app – especially to power users.

Refer to our full feature for more.

Springtomize 2

Springtomize was initially released last March, and as an alternative option to WinterBoard, allowed users to customize many aspects of iOS.

The sequel provides much of the same, bringing iOS 5 compatibility and a sleek new look. As well as customizing the aesthetics of just about anything, you can disable certain aspects you may not find particularly useful, such as Voice Control or Multitasking.

Well worth checking out, you can find a more detailed overview here.

IntelliScreenX

This tweak simply fills an extremely obvious gap left by Apple in iOS 5, bringing a Notification Center-like experience to the LockScreen. Maybe Tim Cook and his development team didn’t think iOS users would want such features on the device’s front page, but that’s by the by, since IntelliScreenX has it covered.

Building on the success of LockInfo, it provides up-to-date information on various forms of notifications, as well as catering for widgets.

It looks beautiful, and is extremely practical. See this post for more information.

BBSettings

SBSettings is, in our humble opinion, the most useful tool available to the jailbreak community. The essential aspects of the iPhone, such as power, Wi-Fi, and cellular data can be controlled with a simple slide across the top of the screen.

Taking advantage of the NotificationCenter in iOS 5, BBSettings makes things even easier by packaging the useful features of SBSettings into Apple’s new alerts infrastructure. For a full overview and download, see here.

Siri Mic Colors

Ahh, so you’ve been staring at the same old interface for three-and-a-bit months now, and if you like spontaneity, you’ve probably been itching to make little adjustments to the theme and UI to suit your taste. Whilst WinterBoard is the obvious option now you’re out of jail, it has been known to slow devices down as well as make them look awfully tacky at times.

So rather than throw WinterBoard in as a suggestion, let’s start with a few subtle changes; after all, minimalistic nearly always looks better, and in what appears to be the first of its kind, Siri Mic Colors allows you to do just what you’d expect.

You’ll need to add the repository http://repo.technetec.com to your list of sources, after which you’ll be able to change that purply Siri mic button to whatever you choose. It’s subtle, minimal, but still gives your device a little originality whilst maintaining class.

Siri Background Color

Again, this tweak does exactly as it says on the tin, bringing a little personality to an otherwise rather plain-looking area.

Let’s face it, we don’t love Siri for her looks, but her wonderfully-educated personality. That said, a change of clothes now and then would not go amiss, wouldn’t you agree?

As with the mic color changes, there are only a few available, but we reckon that keeps things clean, tasteful and simple.

Download from Cydia under the MacCiti.com repo.

VoiceUtils

Now this is where things get a little more interesting. VoiceUtils is the first of undoubtedly many tweaks bringing some form of customization go Siri’s commands.

It’s not too bad for a first attempt, and we fully expect to see a massive influx of similar tweaks in the coming days/weeks/months.

VoiceUtils allows you to respring, reboot, turn your device off and enter safe mode via Siri, all very handly little time-savers.

With the iPhone 4S now jailbroken, expect to see many Siri-related tweaks appearing in the near future. Although the wait has been rather agonizing at times, at least we’re not having to restore from a stop-gap tethered boot option.

As an added bonus to all these great tweaks, Grant Paul (or as he’s better known in the jailbreak community, @chpwn), has confirmed that his tweaks work just fine on the iPhone 4S. To refresh your memory, these include Zephyr (as mentioned above) along with classics such as the Infini- series, which allows an infinite scrolling of the springboard, folders and dock, as well as the very useful Gridlock, which allows icons to be placed in various positions as opposed to one after the other as dictated by Apple.

Due to energy crisis the scientists making efforts to discover new and less expensive ways for running the vehicles. At the end they discover a wonderful concept to use the energy of Sun light. This concept is called Solar Energy.

Scientists are making new cars which will be called Solar Powered Cars, which are designed totally on solar concept. These will be best performance and used the sun light as fuel.

1 ) The Solar-Powered Volvo

This is neither confirmed news nor is it something that the organizers of the grueling race are planning for come the year 2015. But this very well could be the way Dakar Rally goes considering the shape which auto industry is taking and with growing prices and demand for fossil fuel. The concept is based on a hybrid drive train, combining fuel cell, solar energy to support the diesel aggregate, all together delivering electricity to the hub motors in each of the wheels. The shape is meant to challenge the conventional truck format, and explore aerodynamic improvements within a Volvo identity. The Dakar Rally is the showcase for the new vehicle, and the vehicle is commercially targeted towards emergency situations, as a rescue vehicle or mobile hospital.

2 ) The Italdesign Giugiaro Quaranta

The “Quaranta” project is a concept car designed to celebrate Italdesign Giugiaro’s forty years of business in styling and technological research at the service of the automotive sector.

The Italdesign Giugiaro Quaranta, world-premiered at the 2008 Geneva International Motor Show, is a synthesis of Italdesign Giugiaro’s unmatched experience of automotive design: from city cars to super sports-cars, from MPVs to medium-engined saloons up to and including luxury flagships and environment-friendly SUV, not to mention light/heavy duty commercial vehicles, in complete cooperation with leading manufacturers all over the world.

The Italdesign Giugiaro Quaranta is an “extreme” product, an environment-friendly, 4WD super sports-car which incorporates a series of innovative aspects: its styling, but also its drive technology, which combines a hybrid engine with solar energy, and its internal layout which, despite its mid-mounted rear engine, can accommodate three adults and a child, also providing a generous luggage compartment.

3 ) The Antro Solo

The Antro Solo is a solar, human and gas-electric hybrid vehicle. It looks like nothing else out there, and has a fuel efficiency of more than 150 miles per gallon! The Antro Solo is a three seat gas-electric hybrid prototype made entirely out of carbon fiber. This material choice allowed the graphic designers to lower the weight of the vehicle to a measly 270kg. This also allowed them to achieve phenomenal fuel efficiency and a pretty decent top speed of 87mph.

All of this is impressive enough, but the Solo’s designers were not content to stop there. In order to maximize the efficiency of the vehicle, the designers installed solar panels on the roof. These solar panels store energy in the car’s batteries which can be used for short 15-25km trips. If there hasn’t been enough sun to power the batteries, each passenger’s seat comes equipped with pedals that can power the vehicles generator.

If you are by yourself, or everyone gets tired, the car can switch to its small combustion engine that is capable of running on petrol or ethanol. The prototype was shown at the Budapest Museum of Transport.

It is set to go into production in 2012, and expected to cost around $20,000 dollars.

4 ) The Enigma

The futuristic Enigma car project is intended to represent the height of automotive exclusivity. You could argue that the only thing that separates one Veyron or Phantom from the other is the color and trim that the first owner specifies from new, whereas with Enigma, the patination of the bronze on the roof of the car would develop with the owner over time. When the car is sold to its next owner, it would be taken back to the factory, the body panels removed and would be retained as a piece of automotive sculpture for their beautiful landscaped gardens.

The next owner would get a new piece of bronze to start their own story. Paul Howse, the designer, really wanted it to be like a sculpture on wheels, a work of art.

5 ) The Lotus Eco Elise

The Lotus Eco Elise project promotes a different perspective on “green”, one which does not revolve solely around tailpipe CO2. This holistic approach is in keeping with the progressive Lotus culture, driving Lotus to become the world’s green automotive consultancy. Sustainable materials, hemp, eco wool and sisal have been developed for body panels and trim and, combined with hi-tech water based paint solutions, showcase new affordable green technologies.

The green credentials of the technology on show in the Lotus Eco Elise have been analysed throughout the lifecycle of the car. A green gear change display has been integrated into the dashboard to promote greener driving as well as a weight reduction programme, illustrating the holistic approach taken. The energy expended to manufacture the car has been evaluated, working to the 3R’s – Reduce, Re-use and Recycle.

Mike Kimberley, CEO of Group Lotus plc commented “This Eco Elise is a great example of the advanced and affordable green technologies Lotus is developing. We are at the cutting edge of environmental technology and are determined to push forward with our green agenda. The Lotus brand values of lightweight, fuel efficient, and high performance are more relevant today than they ever have been.

We are keen to ensure that Lotus as a company and its products offer an ethical, green option that appeals to our customers”.

In keeping with the “performance through light weight” philosophy, the Lotus Eco Elise weighs 32 kg (70.5 lbs) less than the standard Lotus Elise S, which means that the efficient Elise S engine in the Lotus Eco Elise will give higher fuel economy figures and even better performance.

6 ) The Peugeot Shoo

‘Peugeot Shoo’ is something that is all about solar glow. The car is designed in a stable triangle shape to give it plenty of design and a lot of space as well. It has a solar roof enabling energy of the sun to be capture and transformed to run its electrical engine. The car is not only a zero-emission vehicle but even the power for its electric engine is from alternate sources making it truly and completely eco-friendly.

While the car can tango on its pretty awesome suspension, it amalgamates the features of ergonomic design with clean power to deliver big time. Now just don’t hold your breath on this one coming to the roads!

7 ) The Koenigsegg Quant

Swedish supercar marque Koenigsegg and NLV Solar AG, a pioneer in photovoltaics and accumulator technology, have joined forces to create the Koenigsegg Quant Concept. The brainchild of this marriage of power and energy is a four-seater solar electric car. A full-scale model is to be unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Salon, with the two companies currently working on running prototypes to scale up for series production.

The project was born when NLV Solar AG commissioned the environmentally aware Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg to develop and design a “car of the future”, incorporating NLV Solar’s groundbreaking, proprietary technology in the felds of photovoltaics and accumulators.

In 2008, the two companies signed a co-operation agreement to create a test vehicle for a unique propulsion system which makes optimum use of the solar technologies developed by NLV Solar AG, allied with an innovative accumulator unit. The groundbreaking thin-flm solar-cell coating is being implemented in one of Koenigsegg’s signature avant-garde designs.

8 ) The Eve

The EVE concept is a passenger car that runs on both electric and solar power. The windshield carries a coating for solar energy storage, while the electric energy serves as the primary power option. A color changing car is always cool. And with an eccentric design thrown in, the appeal is further enhanced. The EVE concept may not sound like a car you would see anytime soon, but when it does see a market launch, rest assured you aren’t going to get enough of it.

9 ) The SEAT Brisa

Hail to the fabulously crafted backless sports mobile concept from Spain called ‘Seat Brisa’ (Breeze in Spanish). Apart from being posh, this slender car designed by talented Miguel Ángel Iranzo Sánchez is also enormously environment friendly. The sturdy vehicle with trendy yet comfortable seating thrusts on sun power, while the nano-photovoltaic cells within its semi-transparent covering translates power to the rear wheel. Thus the automobile uses nature as its driving force and is geared with killer looks making the stylishly crafted Brisa worth every effort by the designer.

There is underwater river. Underwater rivers can be found in a cave if dive up to 30 meters depth, the water is freshwater, but if you dive to the depth of more than 60 meters, the water becomes salt water. In essence there is a “river” complete with trees and foliage. But, of course it was not unusual because the river is a river of hydrogen sulfide layer that looks like a river. Hydrogen sulfide, H2S, is a colorless gas, toxic, flammable, and smells like rotten eggs. These gases can arise from biological activity when bacteria break down organic material in a state without oxygen (anaerobic activity), such as in the swamp, the sea and sewage. Gas was also featured on the gas arising from volcanic activity and natural gas.

16 Unusual Facts About the Human Body

People will often say they know something “like the back of their hand” to indicate that they’re familiar with it top to bottom. But how much do you actually know about your own body? We’ve got 16 tidbits that may surprise you.

1: Tongue Print

Don’t stick out your tongue if you want to hide your identity. Similar to fingerprints, everyone also has a unique tongue print!

2: Shedding

Your pet isn’t the only one in the house with a shedding problem. Humans shed about 600,000 particles of skin every hour. That works out to about 1.5 pounds each year, so the average person will lose around 105 pounds of skin by age 70.

3: Bone Count

An adult has fewer bones than a baby. We start off life with 350 bones, but because bones fuse together during growth, we end up with only 206 as adults.

4: New Stomach

Did you know that you get a new stomach lining every three to four days? If you didn’t, the strong acids your stomach uses to digest food would also digest your stomach.

5: Scent Remembering

Your nose is not as sensitive as a dog’s, but it can remember 50,000 different scents.

6: Long Intestines

The small intestine is about four times as long as the average adult is tall. If it weren’t looped back and forth upon itself, its length of 18 to 23 feet wouldn’t fit into the abdominal cavity, making things rather messy.

7: Bacteria

This will really make your skin crawl: Every square inch of skin on the human body has about 32 million bacteria on it, but fortunately, the vast majority of them are harmless.

8: Source of Body Odor

The source of smelly feet, like smelly armpits, is sweat. And people sweat buckets from their feet. A pair of feet have 500,000 sweat glands and can produce more than a pint of sweat a day.

9: Sneeze Speed

The air from a human sneeze can travel at speeds of 100 miles per hour or more — another good reason to cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze — or duck when you hear one coming your way.

10: Blood Distance

Blood has a long road to travel: Laid end to end, there are about 60,000 miles of blood vessels in the human body. And the hard-working heart pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood through those vessels every day.

11: Saliva Quantity

You may not want to swim in your spit, but if you saved it all up, you could. In a lifetime, the average person produces about 25,000 quarts of saliva — enough to fill two swimming pools!

12: Snore Loudness

By 60 years of age, 60-percent of men and 40-percent of women will snore. But the sound of a snore can seem deafening. While snores average around 60 decibels, the noise level of normal speech, they can reach more than 80 decibels. Eighty decibels is as loud as the sound of a pneumatic drill breaking up concrete. Noise levels over 85 decibels are considered hazardous to the human ear.

13: Hair Color and Count

Blondes may or may not have more fun, but they definitely have more hair. Hair color helps determine how dense the hair on your head is, and blondes (only natural ones, of course), top the list. The average human head has 100,000 hair follicles, each of which is capable of producing 20 individual hairs during a person’s lifetime. Blondes average 146,000 follicles. People with black hair tend to have about 110,000 follicles, while those with brown hair are right on target with 100,000 follicles. Redheads have the least dense hair, averaging about 86,000 follicles.

14: Nail Growth

If you’re clipping your fingernails more often than your toenails, that’s only natural. The nails that get the most exposure and are used most frequently grow the fastest. Fingernails grow fastest on the hand that you write with and on the longest fingers. On average, nails grow about one-tenth of an inch each month.

15: Head Weight

No wonder babies have such a hard time holding up their heads: The human head is one-quarter of our total length at birth but only one-eighth of our total length by the time we reach adulthood.

16: Need for Sleep

If you say that you’re dying to get a good night’s sleep, you could mean that literally. You can go without eating for weeks without succumbing, but eleven days is tops for going without sleep. After eleven days, you’ll be asleep — forever!

Demand for the luxury in growing. One of the expanding industry is luxury boats production. New companies constantly appear offering their services in luxury boat building. Nobody had any experience first, there were no luxury boats in Soviet Russia for 70 years in a row. So some manufacturers copy their works from the Western industry, but some go their unique, Russian way, creating something looking not alike to any other, like this one made for one of the Siberian governors.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates — long regarded as Steve Jobs’ foil in the early years of personal computing — has issued a statement in the wake of Jobs’ death earlier today.

I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.

Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.

The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come.

For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely.

But he’s just one of many.

From President Obama:

Michelle and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Jobs. Steve was among the greatest of American innovators – brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it.

By building one of the planet’s most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity. By making computers personal and putting the internet in our pockets, he made the information revolution not only accessible, but intuitive and fun. And by turning his talents to storytelling, he has brought joy to millions of children and grownups alike. Steve was fond of saying that he lived every day like it was his last. Because he did, he transformed our lives, redefined entire industries, and achieved one of the rarest feats in human history: he changed the way each of us sees the world.

The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve’s success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented. Michelle and I send our thoughts and prayers to Steve’s wife Laurene, his family, and all those who loved him.

Steve, your passion for excellence is felt by anyone who has ever touched an Apple product (including the macbook I am writing this on right now). And I have witnessed it in person the few times we have met.

On behalf of all of us at Google and more broadly in technology, you will be missed very much. My condolences to family, friends, and colleagues at Apple.

He was very kind to reach out to me as I became CEO of Google and spend time offering his advice and knowledge even though he was not at all well. He got the concept immediately and we started about 5 months of negotiations over our first contract. Apple invested $2.5 million into Adobe and gave us an advance on royalties. This allowed us to help Apple build the first LaserWriter. Without Steve’s vision and incredible willingness to take risk, Adobe would not be what it is today. We owe an enormous debt to Steve and his vision.

Most of us think that eating fruit can be nothing but healthy but there are hidden dangers in many common foods. Poisons that make you sick, paralyze and even kill you lurk behind some of our favorites. Most of the time we don’t need to be concerned, but occasionally people accidentally kill themselves by unwittingly eating the wrong part of a plant or a wrong fruit altogether. In order to ensure that this never happens to you, I have put together a list of the 10 poisonous fruit you have to be careful dealing with!

10. Almonds

Almonds a dry fruit (it is not a nut as many people would have you believe). It has a unique taste and its excellent suitability for use in cooking have made it one of the most popular ingredients in pastry kitchens for centuries. The most flavorsome almonds are bitter almonds (as opposed to “sweet” almonds). They have the strongest scent and are the most popular in many countries. But there is one problem: they are full of cyanide. Before consumption, bitter almonds must be processed to remove the poison. Despite this requirement, some countries make the sale of bitter almonds illegal (New Zealand regretfully is one of them). As an alternative, you can use the pip from an apricot stone which has a similar flavor and poison content. Heating destroys the poison. In fact, you may not know that it is now illegal in the USA to sell raw almonds – all almonds sold are now heat-treated to remove traces of poison and bacteria.

9. Cashews

Though really seeds and not nuts, cashews grow inside of a shell-like structure that grows on a fruit. When buying “raw cashews” in the store, take note that these nuts have actually been steamed and are not entirely raw. This is because raw cashews contain urushiol, which is the same chemical that you’d find in poison ivy. It can cause the body to have a very similar reaction to one experienced from poison oak or ivy. If a high level of urushiol is ingested, it can be deadly. Cashew poisoning is rare, but those who handle them in order to manufacture them to get the shell off sometimes experience the side-effects.

8. Cherries

Cherries are definitely one of the most versatile fruits. You can eat them raw, cook them, bake them, and get them tart or sweet. Cherries can even be used in certain types of liquor. Despite their overall red goodness, cherries are toxic. If you’ve ever eaten a cherry and without thought chewed on the pip or left it in your mouth, you more than likely introduced hydrogen cyanide into your body. If a cherry pip is chewed, crushed, or somehow damaged, it automatically produces hydrogen cyanide. Symptoms of mild poisoning include headache, dizziness, confusion, anxiety, and vomiting. Larger doses can lead to difficulty breathing, increased blood pressure and heart rate, and kidney failure. Reactions can include coma, convulsions, and death from respiratory arrest.

7. Asparagus

Asparagus is a vegetable that gives fruit! Yes, a vegetable that gives fruit, a poisonous one, didn’t get it? Well, because by definition vegetable usually means an edible plant or part of a plant other than a sweet fruit or seed. This typically means the leaf, stem, or root of a plant. So the vege part is not poisonous and is eaten, but the fruit is. Asparagus has been used from early times as a vegetable and medicine, owing to its delicate flavour and diuretic properties. The fruit is a small red berry 6–10 mm diameter, which is poisonous to humans.

6. Tomatoes

First off, a little interesting trivia: in the US, thanks to a US Supreme Court decision in 1893, tomatoes are vegetables. In the rest of the world they are considered to be fruit (or more accurately, a berry). The reason for this decision was a tax on vegetables but not fruit. You may also be interested to know that technically, a tomato is an ovary. The leaves and stems of the tomato plant contain a chemical called “Glycoalkaloid” which causes extreme nervousness and stomach upsets. Despite this, they can be used in cooking to enhance flavor, but they must be removed before eating. Cooking in this way does not allow enough poison to seep out but can make a huge difference in taste. Finally, to enhance the flavor of tomatoes, sprinkle a little sugar on them. Now we just need to work out whether they are “toe-mah-toes” or “toe-may-toes”.

5. Apricot

Apricots might not be toxic themselves but if you ingest the seeds along (in larger doses), they are. Seeds or kernels of the apricot grown in central Asia and around the Mediterranean are so sweet that they may be substituted for almonds. The Italian liqueur amaretto and amaretti biscotti are flavored with extract of apricot kernels as well as almonds. Oil pressed from these cultivars has been used as cooking oil. Apricot kernels can sometimes be strong-tasting and bitter. They feature in recipes for apricot jam, and Italian amaretto cookies and liqueur. Taken in excess, they may produce symptoms of cyanide poisoning, including nausea, fever, rash, headaches, insomnia, increased thirst, weakness, lethargy, nervousness, various aches and pains in joints and muscles, a drop in blood pressure. It is known for containing amygdalin, a toxic cyanogenic glycoside.

4. Jatropha Fruit

Jatropha is a drought resistant perennial shrub or small tree that produces seeds up to 35 years but can live up to 50 years. Jatropha grows fast with little or no maintenance and reaches the average height of about 3 meters but it can grow up to 8 meters. Since the Jatropha plant’s average height is about three meters, harvesting is easy and the plant can be grown practically anywhere (ordinary soil, sandy, gravely or rocky soil) and adapts easily to different climates. Jatropha is resistant to droughts -it can stand up to two years without rainfall. The tree also has a short gestation period, it will bear a several fruits starting at about 6 months old and be fully fruit bearing between one to two years. The sufferers will be mostly then in areas affected by drought. The seeds of this genus are also a source of the highly poisonous toxalbumin curcin. Despite this, the seeds are occasionally eaten after roasting, which reduces some of the toxicity. Its sap is a skin irritant, and ingesting as few as three untreated seeds can be fatal to humans.

3. Daphne

It is a deciduous shrub growing to 1.5 m tall, it is very poisonous for people, though fruit-eating birds like thrushes are immune and eat them, dispersing the seeds in their droppings. Daphne mezereum is very toxic because of the daphnetoxin present especially in the berries and twigs. If poisoned, victims experience a choking sensation. Handling the fresh twigs can cause rashes and eczema in sensitive individuals. Despite this, it is commonly grown as an ornamental plant in gardens for its attractive flowers.

2. European Spindle

The fruit is poisonous, containing amongst other substances, the alkaloids theobromine and caffeine, as well as an extremely bitter terpene. Poisonings are more common in young children, who are enticed by the brightly-coloured fruits. Ingestion can result in liver and kidney damage and even death. There are many other species of Euonymus, many (if not all) of which are also poisonous.

1. Apple

An apple a day will keep the doctor away. Unless you eat the seeds. Like cherries and other fruits, they contain cyanogenic glycosides causing cyanide. Seeds from one apple will not likely cause an effect but people have eaten enough to die from it.

Good sexual health can perk up your bodily health. It certainly puts you in a optimistic frame of wits. Conserve power, turn off lights and light a candle. Save water, share a shower and soap each other. Go green between the sheets. This is more than a lifehack for mating, more than a justification to have sex.

10. A Lower Blood Pressure Level

A big health benefit of sex is lower blood pressure and overall stress reduction, according to researchers from Scotland who reported their findings in the journal Biological Psychology. They studied 24 women and 22 men who kept records of their sexual activity. Then the researchers subjected them to stressful situations — such as speaking in public and doing verbal arithmetic — and noted their blood pressure response to stress. Those who had intercourse had better responses to stress than those who engaged in other sexual behaviors or abstained. Another study published in the same journal found that frequent intercourse was associated with lower diastolic blood pressure in cohabiting participants. Yet other research found a link between partner hugs and lower blood pressure in women.

9. An Analgesic

Sex releases the fun-time hormone, oxytocin. And as WebMD reports, “as the hormone oxytocin surges, endorphins increase, and pain declines. So if your headache, arthritis pain, or PMS symptoms seem to improve after sex, you can thank those higher oxytocin levels.” Beats taking a double dose of pain relieving analgesic any time.

8. A good Work Out

Thirty minutes of sex burns 85 calories or more. It may not sound like much, but it adds up: 42 half-hour sessions will burn 3,570 calories, more than enough to lose a pound. Doubling up, you could drop that pound in 21 hour-long sessions. “Sex is a great mode of exercise,” says Patti Britton, PhD, a Los Angeles sexologist and president of the American Association of Sexuality Educators and Therapists. It takes work, from both a physical and psychological perspective, to do it well, she says.

7. A Cleansed System

It goes without saying that when we get aroused our blood starts to pump at a quicker rate and, thus, blood flow to our brain increases. Both an increased heart rate and more blood pumping through the brain result in better performance (in and out of the bedroom). What this ultimately means is that the fresh supply of blood pumping through your body provides the organs with a healthy dose of oxygen and rids the body of old and wasteful products. So, another health benefit of sex is a cleansed system. Treat your temple right with the help of a little excitement.

6. Fountain of Youth

Although the orgasm is sometimes referred to as the “little death,” having at least two orgasms a week can increase your life span. Every time you reach orgasm, the hormone DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) increases in response to sexual excitement and ejaculation. DHEA can boost your immune system, repair tissue, improve cognition, keep skin healthy, and even work as an antidepressant. Therefore, a health benefit of sex if you keep the orgasms coming, is potentially a longer life.

5. Healing Wounds & Hearts

Healing can be thought of in many ways. Sometimes a relationship needs to heal. Other times, a person needs to heal. It can be a wound or one suffering from something like diabetes. There have been studies in which evidence suggests that sex heals. Lovemaking can help rejuvenate to the point of cells regenerating and wounds healing faster. Set the stage right for the romp and anything is possible. Oxytocin from the big O, it does a body good.

4. An Anti-depressant

Sex produces phenylethylamine, a love chemical that ups your mood. Also, a study from the State University of New York shows that women who were directly exposed to semen were less depressed. Though as study lead Gordon Gallup points out, “I want to make it clear that we are not advocating that people abstain from using condoms.” After all, getting an STD or experiencing an unwanted pregnancy is not going to lift up anyone’s mood.

3. Prevents Cancer

Sex can help reduce the risk of breast cancer for women who have never given birth. A study showed that if a female increases the frequency of sex, she decreases the risks of breast cancer. Sex strengthens the pelvic floor muscles that control the flow of urine. Kegel exercises occur naturally during sex, giving women better bladder control. Frequent ejaculations, especially in 20-something men, may reduce the risk of prostate cancer later in life, Australian researchers reported in the British Journal of Urology International. When they followed men diagnosed with prostate cancer and those without, they found no association of prostate cancer with the number of sexual partners as the men reached their 30s, 40s, and 50s. But they found men who had five or more ejaculations weekly while in their 20s reduced their risk of getting prostate cancer later by a third.

2. A Hypnotic

After an orgasm, an intense wave of calm and relaxation overcomes humans (that’s why men usually fall asleep) and it’s a time when people can truly liberate themselves and let go. Plenty of people who enjoy a regular dose of sex convey that they sleep much better during the night and feel alive and refreshed throughout the day. So, one of the health benefits of sex is a better nights sleep, which allows you to handle day-to-day stress much more efficiently and helps fight insomnia.

1. Beneficial to Her

Getting down and dirty with her could help her reproductive health. The more sex she has, the more hormones she will produce that are responsible for increased sexual desire. That’s right, the more sex she has, the more sex she will want to have. More lovemaking can increase her levels of estrogen, which protects against osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s. Sex can also help prevent endometriosis in women. Ladies who have sex at least once a week have more regular menstrual cycles than those who frolic under the sheets less frequently. All this sex helps promote fertility in women by regulating menstrual patterns. Post romp, a female gets a jolt of natural oxytocin which in turn releases endorphins. This natural painkiller can help alleviate arthritis pain or lessen cramps. Plus all the practice is perfect if you want to hear the pitter-patter of little carbon footprints. After you’ve made a baby, horizontal dancing can trigger the onset of labor when she’s at term. Semen in her system may help with a speedy delivery. Yes, sex can maybe even help her to tolerate a natural, drug-free birth.
